Entertainment Center aka Goliath

One of my first entries here at The Fall of Autumn I wrote about creating an entertainment center, but there's only one problem I have no carpentry skills what so ever. So what's a boy to do? Follow the American way and outsource of course! I asked Allison's brother if he were willing to make us something in his shop class and he was kind enough to take my ghetto plans and make it become real. While searching on google for the look I wanted, I stumbled upon a fellow blogger and was excited to see this task could be possible. I quickly came up with some dimensions to fit in a nook in our home.

Today Allison and myself visited Davis High to see the progress and we were blown away at not only the quality of the cabinet but by the size of this thing. We kept the measurements in mind so that we could get it into the house... but holy cow, we're going to need some serious muscle to move this thing. Jordan has been doing a great job and humoring us while Ali makes a few more requests before we begin staining this mother. Most of our Saturday morning was spent at Home Depot debating the color and hardware we are going to put on this and finally came to an agreement. The finished project will be Ebony with some large hardware we found for really cheap but had to order special.

Everything is coming together slowly and we should have everything done in a few more months because Allison wanted a few changes to my super dope plans.

Radio From Hell Film Festival

Allison surprised me with some tickets to an event put on by our favorite radio morning show on X96. It was for the first annual Radio From Hell Film Festival on Febuary 12! After work we ran over to Salt Lake Pizza Company for some hot wings and onto Tower Theater which is the crappiest movie theater I have ever been to. We had an enjoyable time watching local talent create films that were based upon the subject "Things That Must Go!" It was a very fun night filled with five minute shorts covering getting caught at traffic lights, people who moved from Cali to Utah only to have every aspect of Utah life being compared to Cali. Even to a complete random movie about an ordinary man holding unexpected powers. I provided a link to one of the funnier films for your enjoyment.

I had a lot of fun and found myself inspired to create and to expand my talents, History has proven that I'm not a film maker... However I have been working on some music and have received a kick in the butt to get things done with those projects. Hopefully as school is slowing down a bit I can spare some time with my IMac. Thanks again Allison for taking me out and having some fun with me.

Early Valentines Day

We decided to cheat and celebrate early! since Sunday would mostly be spent in church with me teaching my kids in Primary and battling Ali's sisters dog at home. Friday after work we went out to celebrate Valentines Day and exchanged our little gifts. Ali surprised me with a sweet tie to add to my collection of well over forty and a new shirt which can be seen in another picture to follow. One of the many things I love about my wife is how well she knows me and takes care of me.

For Allison she has started to develop a sweet tooth so I made arrangements for some good treats from Cummings Chocolate, She loves their chocolate grapes and strawberries. Both her and our son (still working on the name) seemed to enjoy the snack throughout the last few days.

My family sometimes refers to me as the cookie man and Allison's thought it would only be fitting to give me my second large cookie in our relationship. While we were dating she made me the largest sugar cookie I've ever seen. This one was just as good and was totally unexpected.

Allison has been wanting to provide some good music for our baby to listen to, so I found some good headphones that could help our future rock star jam out to. In this picture we're introducing our child to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon. I was surprised at the kicks we could feel as we was enjoying his own personal mosh pit.

Later we decided to use a gift certificate my parents gave us to Rodizio Grill... nothing says love like eating like it's Thanksgiving at Rodizio Grill. It was a long wait but it was well worth it, we even saw some of our friends as they waited for their dinner arrangements. We both love Rodizio so much that we even had our wedding luncheon there after we were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. We enjoyed some good food and the restaurant put me to shame as they presented Allison with a rose at the end of our meal.
At the end of the night Allison was very tired so we went home and enjoyed falling asleep to a very lame movie. Needless to say we had a very successful Valentines Day and we hope that everyone has a fun weekend of expressing love to the special one in our lives. Happy Valentines Day Everyone!
